![]() ![]() This film is just delightful from beginning to end - and I don't think you really need to know that it is Bavarian, not German. The French held sway during those times, and I recall a few films from Italy. ![]() Even then, I felt that Germany was under-represented in what we were able to see at that time. I studied film in college and have a degree in Communications from 1962. It reminded me of Mel Brook's films, and I will search for a copy of "Der Shuh des Manitu" if I can find one to screen for the rest of my family. Yes, it's "low" comedy, but it's funny and that's the point. It was hilarious, even though it was dubbed in English and subtitled in Spanish.ĭubbing has certainly improved from years ago, and this film was done particularly well. We are in Mexico on vacation and I just happened to see this film. I am an American movie reviewer since 1971 for various TV and radio stations. ![]() Manitou's Shoe (2001) is absolutely, wonderfully funny! ![]()
